Better than HD 201..spend those extra few bucks..!! April 5, 2009 VA (Ind) 58 out of 58 found this review helpful
This actually was an accidental buy for me. I am an avid gamer love my xbox 360. I was surprised to find Sennheisers HD 201 and 202 for such a low price. Though I did not really need headphones, still I decided to check out the HD 201 as they were specially advertised for gaming.
I took my ipod and psp to try the HD 201 at the showroom but to my disappointment the volume of the 201 was not loud enough. Almost deciding not to buy it, I was about to leave. But the lady at the shop told me to try the HD 202. And man, what a marked difference in the sound. These were adequately loud with a powerful yet controlled bass and thump. I tried various songs on the 202 and all of them sounded brilliant.
My only fear was these big headphones are usually not very comfortable if you wear for long hours (mostly because they are usually tight). But not the case with this one. These fit very well and you can wear these for long hours. These look more sophisticated than the 201s.
Another big plus was the 3m long chord as I usually plug this to my lcd which is at a slight distance. So all these plusses made me picked this one up as this passed all the tests.
Go for it, you wont regret it.
Inexpensive but fantastic quality February 13, 2009 Holy Smoke (Somewhere in Time) 98 out of 99 found this review helpful
As always the phrase "you get what you pay for" was buzzing round my head when I came across these, but I saw the favourable reviews and decided to give it a shot. I've been very impressed with the Sennheiser HD202's so far. First of all the build quality is excellent, well padded with a tough construction that isn't going to fall apart when you drop them. The sound quality is excellent, just what you'd expect from Sennheiser. Turn up the volume and you get a full thick sound that is crystal clear, something I didn't expect for under £20. I've now owned these headphones for a year and they haven't lost anything, no crackling, no fuzz, no loss of sound. If you are planning on buying a larger set of headphones then I would certainly recommend these.
Top quality headphones! April 22, 2009 R. Datta (UK) 35 out of 35 found this review helpful
Sennheiser HD202 Closed Back Headphone
There are a couple of poor reviews for this product, but I was not put off and I'm glad I bought them! These headphones are perfect for home studio use and provide an excellent frequency response for a really good price. One reviewer complains about how tight the headband is, but you're supposed to stretch them to fit your head - that's the point! Just leave them overnight stretched around something approximately the size of your head!!
YOUR SEARCH FOR THE BEST HEADPHONES IS OVER October 6, 2009 Mr. John K. Bishton (Chesterfield, U.K.) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
It's true. These headphones really are as good as everyone says. I've had plenty of pairs over the years - Pioneer, Panasonic, JVC and even Bose - all of which, especially the latter, have cost many times more than this set, and I can honestly say, hand on heart, none of them has performed as well as these Sennheiser HD 202 cans. I've just been trialling them on the new Beatles remasters and I've never heard anything so startlingly good and clear.
I'd originally thought of buying the more expensive set, the HD 228, which several Amazon Vine reviewers had enthused about. However, they appeared to have some minor drawbacks and were twice the price of the HD 202, so I went for the cheaper model, thinking, as another reviewer has said, that "you only get what you paid for".
Well, I would happily have paid much more for these as they give me everything I've ever wanted from a set of headphones. They are very light and comfortable, smartly designed, solid enough without being ugly and obtrusive and, most importantly, the sound is the best I've heard. The bass is rich and deep without thumping in that headache-inducing way, the treble tones are perfect and clear. I've heard no distortion, the volume level is great. (I even had to turn my amp down a notch from my usual `headphones' setting.)
I momentarily wondered if I'd been sent a higher-end model by mistake but no, these are the Sennheiser HD 202 - the best phones I've ever used in over 35 years of listening - and all for less than 18 quid. Astonishing! (I think I'll buy an extra pair for when my wife wants to listen with me!)
Superd headphones; Definatly worth the price April 12, 2009 J. Carter (UK) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought these headphones mainly as an alternative to my sound system when everyone else has gone to bed and have been very impressed so far.
I have tried a few other large (as in in home use only) headphones over the years but could never get comfortable in them. After an hours use or so i'd find them to be too heavy on my ears and had to take them off.
These phones are light in comparison to some, but do not feel flimsy or poorly constructed and as such can be worn for long periods of time (i've had them on for 2 hours now and they feel fine). I have found the best way to wear them is to actualy slide the ear pieces to quite a high position - towards the "smaller head" size - and have the connecting arch quite far back on the head. This takes the pressure off the ears.
As for sound quality, they can't be faulted. Advertised as having good bass they certainly follow through. The sound is outstanding all round, especially for such a cheap set and i found myself noticing sounds in well watched movies that i hadn't heard before!
Many people talk about "breaking-in" a pair of headphones by leaving them playing music overnight but it's hard for me to see just how much they can improve by. It seems silly to waste the products life by simply having it playing overnight. Enjoy them as you break them in and if it does happen to improve sound, enjoy them then too!
Sennheiser is a quality brand and you shouldn't be dissapointed with any of their products. The Sennheiser HD202's are no different and having bought them as a cheap set to stop waking the family up i have been well impressed. A definate recommendation.
