I will start of by saying that I do love my Archos 5. Its brilliant!
The battery life on it is very impressive too, as ive managed to get 7hrs of video playback out of the standard battery.
The only drawback to the player is the 8hr battery charge using the usb cable......
Thats where the battery dock comes into its element.
The dock does charge the battery so quickly, roughly in 3hrs, and in that time it also charges it's own backup battery. So you can get approx. 14hrs of video playback or 30+hrs of audio.
The battery dock also has the video out ports to allow you to watch your shows/movies on a bigger screen. This is nice, although controling with the touchscreen at this point can be a bit annoying at times. Apparently you can connect a usb mouse to the dock to use at the same time, but i have not had the chance to try this yet.
Overall though, this Battery Dock almost doubles the battery life on the Archos, reduces the charging time by over a half, allows you to watch/listen to you files on a tv and in my opinion is great value for money.

The extra battery power is great.
The fact that i can now connect my Archos 5 to my TV and playe my Videos / Music though my surround Sound, plus if you plug a USB mouse in and it works.
Worth the extra money over just the Archos dock.

Although I'm slightly disappointed about the Archos' battery life, this more than makes up for it. I've watched 3 hours worth of video and still full battery (if the battery bar is anything reliable to go by)

A good addition to the Archos5 because it adds battery life and allows connection with a PC, camera and TV. This the thing to buy if you don't want to record TV. So, it does what it's supposed to do.
