This really is at the budget end of the ebook reader market, so if you're not sure about committing a large amount of money for something you don't know you'll use much, it could be the ideal choice. However, having checked out all the functions I decided it would do everything I wanted it to, and duly placed my order.
This model has a 5" screen, which is fairly small but it does mean you can easily slip it into a pocket, and it also comes with a black leather case which is a real bonus, as a lot of companies only sell these separately. It takes several different formats of ebook: TXT, HTML, PDF, EPUB and DOC. DRM protected PDF and EPUB files are also supported, but only if you have additional software on your computer (available to download free) and you keep the reader connected to it while you read.
Having tried all the different formats out, I have decided that EPUB is by far the best as the text displays at a reasonable size with no errors. PDFs have issues with tiny text and peculiar formatting errors when you enlarge them - they are still readable, but the line spacing goes crazy. HTML files display with no formatting or unusual characters, so you lose all your line breaks, speech marks and hyphens - which makes reading a real challenge. DOC files also lose the hyphens and speech marks, although they do retain line breaks, but it is a useful facility if you want to use the reader to proof your own writing. Somehow, it's much easier to spot errors on the small screen than it is on the computer.
A couple of additional features which are by no means standard in a budget ebook reader, are the presence of a 2GB SD card, which you can change for one as large as 32GB, although why you would need to I don't know - that's practically a whole library's worth of storage! Also, there is the ability to store and play MP3 files, as well as record them using the built in microphone. It's not really a fantastic MP3 player, as you can only store the files at one level with no subfolders, but as it's not its primary function I still think it's a pretty useful feature.
The operation of the machine is pretty straightforward, with the option of using a switch at the side or a button on the front to turn pages. You can also display them in portrait or landscape format, which I have found quite useful at times. There are two options for the screen refresh, and although the faster one leaves a ghost of the text on the page, it's not too obvious. I have now found that I'm automatically pressing the next page button before I get to the last line, so that the transition from page to page is seamless.
In short, if you want a cheap ebook reader then you can't go far wrong with this one. It's crashed on me a few times, but this is easily sorted out by pressing the reset button on the back. I can honestly say, however, that I wouldn't be without it now. It's revolutionised my reading habits!

a fantastic machine does everything it says on the box,once i had mastered how to download books etc(with the brilliant people at Dealstations help)i think its a bargain and would recommend it to anyone

The delivery was speedy and once we had the workings explained to us it is very good. The instruction booklet provided was not very helpful which was a shame.
