I've had a Creative Zen for some time now and although it works well it is the size of a small paving slab. I liked the look of the Sony but I'd had one of the early players with the "Sonic" software which was returned to the shop and placed on a rubbish heap behind the counter with a load of other useless walkmans!
Whilst browsing in my local shop the assistant assured me that all problems had been sorted. The price was reasonable for a 16Gb player so I took a chance. Wow, I'm glad I did. What a piece of kit. Out the box, plug it in, synchronise media player, and within 1 hour I had loaded 14Gb of music. Another 5 minutes and the clock and FM radio were sorted out. Sound quality is excellent with the supplied headphones. No instructions are necessary as the menu is self-explanatory and easy to navigate. One other thing, I have more space left on the Sony 16Gb than I did on my Zen 20Gb. I don't know how that works and I don't care. Well done Sony, you've sorted out all your earlier problems and produced a nice piece of no nonsense kit.

I've got one of these and I have to say that I disagree withthe previous reviewer; it will hold the same amount of music as any other MP3 player, it just depends what size the music files you put on it are!
The sound quality is great for such a small bit of kit, and even with the included earphones it sounds better than my girlfriend's iPod Nano. It also works with both our iTunes music libraries and gets TV shows from the BBC iPlayer site.
Its not my first MP3 player, but for the price, its definately the best I've had.

Okay, so it's not some fancy ipod with 100s of applications you'll never need and the lack of a touch screen does make it look slightly retro, but for anyone who wants an mp3 player to listen to ~music~ this is perfect. It was completely straight-foward to put all my files on here and has all the functions you'd expect a decent mp3 player to have. It's great not having to sync music and doesn't take a hundred years to charge as my old mp3 player did. I can't fault the sound quality and for the price I paid, don't think I could have got anything better.

Bought this player today, and settting up is just so easy to do, especially if computors are not your thing.BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING THOUGH GO TO SETTINGS THEN EQUALISER AND SCROLL DOWN TO THE CUSTOM 1 SETTING AND ADJUST THE EQUALISER SETTINGS BASS TREBLE ETC AS THE FACTORY EG JAZZ POP SETTINGS ARE REALLY AWFUL TERRIBLE AND USELESS ( THEY WILL MAKE IT SOUND DISTORTED AND REVOLTING !!! GET THE PICTURE?
Transfer of music and all controls are totally easy to operate and on windows media player you can veiw all the instructions for operating the controls,and they are simple to understand,I always worry about buying another electronic device but this one is a real pleasure to set up and use.Its well made and very solid,and there is a screen protector already on it so dont try to fit one on as i did, video is very clear and so are photos.
The sound volume level is lowish but adequate definetly not painful, and you can remove the AVLS sound limiter but to me nothing happens when you do ,there are equalizer settings that are worth playing about with. The sound is lovely detailed and very clear,the bass is fine (and you do have to take a long term veiw of hearing damage) we all love music right? so dont wear your ears out!I have twinned mine with the ultimate ears superfi 3 earphones a perfect set up,an ideal player

Bought as a christmas gift for my daughter who wanted an ipod! (Despite the fact that the first one sent to me disappeared in the post and empty packaging arrived Amazon were fab and sent it out on the 23rd december, arriving on the 24th.) When I compared what you got for your money I went for the sony walkman and we are not disappointed. The sound quality is good, it's small and easy on the eye and the colour went down well with my teenager! She also likes the radio. Good value for money.All round very pleased.
