Great headphones July 5, 2010 Simon 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought these for two main reasons, the first being the 'no dangling wires' and the second being the water resistant nature.
I'm happy to say they are great on both counts. I've done up to 2 hours worth of exercise with them on and they haven't fell off or even required re-adjustment, they just fit nicely and stay there. And I've not had any issues with the water resistant side of things, after 2 hours they still sound great.
The controls were a little fiddly at first but after 5 mins of working out how things work it's easy, didn't bother with the manual so that should give you an idea.
If you've used Sony software before you may be dreading using this, but no, even the software is user friendly, took me 5 mins from opening the box to start putting music on them.
If you think 2gb is a little small then it may be if you intend to carry your music collection around with you but for exercising they are great...the music lasts far longer than I can.
Overall I'm very impressed with them and I'd certainly recommend them to anyone who is tired of wires swaying from side to side when running or putting the earpiece back in every 2 mins.
Great product September 4, 2010 Bertie 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Let me start by saying I am a big ipod fan and have probably worked my way through at least 10. In particular, I have had 4 of the old ipod shuffles and one of the new version but they have all suffered from the same fatal design flaw - they fail once exposed to sweat. As I use the player for workouts I needed one that can last longer than me. The latest shuffle is the worst as there are two entry points because of the controls on the headphones and so it would barely last 10 minutes before grinding to a halt. I reluctantly therefore decided to switch my allegiance to Sony purely on their water resistant promise. And so far it has worked perfectly. After a week of frequent use I have had no problems. The controls are simple to use and the fact there are no wires is a bonus. My one gripe is the charger as it's a little flimsy and not as simple to hook up as the ipods. But that's a minor fault. The sound is excellent and the player is very comfortable to wear with no need to adjust.
No wires, no tangle August 28, 2010 Matt I bought the earlier version of this device as I liked the idea of getting rid of the mess of wire that conventionally hangs from your ears when listening to a portable device. Sony market the Walkman W as a player for runners and sporty types but I have found the hands free aspect of the W to be a revolution in mundane tasks; when washing up and mowing the lawn or doing DIY I am no longer wrenching the earbuds from my ears or digging in my pocket for the controls.
My son runs and goes to the gym a lot, I bought him the new model that has better waterproofing and some welcome tweaks to the controls and he finds it great for workouts.
Importantly the sound quality of the Walkman W is really good with a lot of depth, better than some more expensive players I've had. I've rated the W five out of five because I don't think there is anything on the market quite like it.
So far so good August 20, 2010 Michael Bought for my wife to replace two ipod shuffles (both of which died early - one with battery problems, the other due to humidity). My wife has indicated a battery life of up to five hours, a surprisingly comfortable fit and no sweat/humidty problems (we live in the tropics). Transfering music is much easier than an ipod - a simple drag and drop. We've only had it for 4 weeks - but definitely, so far so good.
Love it August 18, 2010 Lisa Hate wires, hate being strangles by them, this gizmo is really cool, easy to load up, still trying to figure how to delete but then I'm technically challenged with Mp3 players.
Love the look and feel really easy to operate, played it constantly, sound quality is great and it stays in place while I cycle on very bumpy tow path. It has a good synicing stand and a clip wich helps it remain in the shape.
I really love it
